Comparisons · Honest, not rigged
MohnMercantile vs Pepper
A polished B2B ordering platform — strong in foodservice, where it gives distributors' customers a modern ordering app. It does the customer-facing order intake layer well.
Reviewed March 2026 · Full disclosure: MohnMercantile is our product — we wrote this comparison and we kept it honest.
Where Pepper genuinely shines
Distributors whose primary problem is order intake — customers ordering online instead of calling — and whose warehouse, routing, and delivery systems already work fine behind it.
- ✓Polished, modern ordering UX — customers actually like using it
- ✓Strong foodservice positioning and sales-rep tooling
- ✓Real product: proven order-intake layer across food distributors
Where the gap is
Ordering is the whole product
Pepper captures the order — then hands it off. The warehouse picking, route dispatch, driver app, POD, empties/returns, and settlement still live in other systems. The order starts digital and goes analog at the dock.
Integration dependency
Everything after order intake depends on syncing with your ERP/WMS — and integration projects are where timelines and budgets go to stretch.
Marketplace-adjacent model
Ordering platforms that aggregate multiple suppliers can put your catalog beside competitors'. A private portal keeps the relationship — and the data — yours.

The honest verdict
Pepper solves the front half of the problem elegantly — if order intake is your only pain, it's a fair option. But an order that still needs a printed pick ticket, a phone-called route, and a paper POD is a problem moved, not solved. MohnMercantile runs the same order through picking, loading, driving, proving, and settling — in one system, one dataset, no integration seam.
More comparisons
MohnMercantile vs Körber Routecenter
Körber's route accounting system — one of the legacy platforms long-standard in beverage distribution. It's the kind of system many independent distributors have run for decades: on-premise terminals, office-site networking, paper-heavy workflows.
MohnMercantile vs Encompass Technologies
The enterprise heavyweight of beverage distribution software — a full ERP covering ordering, warehouse, delivery, accounting, and supplier networks (they also acquired DSDLink). Powerful, comprehensive, and priced and staffed accordingly.
MohnMercantile vs Last-Mile Delivery Apps
The category of delivery/route tools — Onfleet, Shipday, Routific and similar — built for dispatching any fleet. Strong at the driver/dispatch layer; not built for distribution operations.
